Our Product. In this groundbreaking book, journalist and innovation expert Warren Berger shows that one of the most powerful forces for igniting change in business and in our daily lives is a simple, under-appreciated tool--one that has been available to us since childhood.
Questioning -- deeply, imaginatively, "beautifully"--can help us identify and solve problems, come up with game-changing ideas, and pursue fresh opportunities. So why are we often reluctant to ask "Why?
Berger's surprising findings reveal that even though children start out asking hundreds of questions a day, questioning "falls off a cliff" as kids enter school. In an education and business culture devised to reward rote answers over challenging inquiry, questioning isn't encouraged--and, in fact, is sometimes barely tolerated. And yet, as Berger shows, the most creative, successful people tend to be expert questioners.
They've mastered the art of inquiry, raising questions no one else is asking--and finding powerful answers. He breaks down the questioning process into three categories:. Each type of question flows into the next, if we let it.

Why is it that way? What if it were different? How could it be changed? Asking why more frequently—and seeing things differently—is the goal of this stage of questioning. As our brain develops, we categorize and filter ideas or experiences, and this stops us from seeing what is all around us. However, Berger says, we could potentially be more creative, better at reexamining our priorities and superior at problem-solving, if only we were to spend less time on autopilot and more time questioning.
Often, he says, organizations fall into a pattern of asking unproductive questions, which can dominate the culture. The nonprofit sector is inclined to keep doing what it has done—hence, well-meaning people are often trying to solve a problem by answering the wrong question. Berger encourages us all to ask better questions, starting in the classroom. He cites the Right Question Institute and presents their method for developing the skill to question.
This includes questioning without judgement, improving questions by broadening or narrowing the focus, and then prioritizing the developed questions. An initial step to successful questioning is becoming comfortable with not knowing. Look at the questions you generate, examine them for their underlying assumptions, and ask if there is a different question you should be asking. Listening informs questioning. Real men ask questions, they don't spout out answers. Reviews Schrijf een review. Kies je bindwijze. Nu in prijs verlaagd.
